Drink smart. Mind the pour.
Mind the Pour is educational content about the economics and culture of alcohol in India, intended for adults of legal drinking age (21+, or as applicable in your state). We do not encourage anyone to start drinking or to drink more.
The basics
- A "standard drink" is roughly a 30ml peg of spirits — a "large" is about two.
- Never drink and drive. Arrange a cab or a designated driver.
- Pace with water and food; know your limit and respect it.
- Never pressure anyone to drink. Look out for friends.
- If drinking feels hard to control, that's worth talking to a professional about.
If you or someone you know needs help
Speak to a doctor or a qualified counsellor. National mental-health and de-addiction helplines exist in India (e.g. the government's Tele-MANAS mental-health helpline). If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
